First off, when most people think of banks.. they think of terror! banks are evil, fee's and hidden agenda's and always out to get you.

not for me!!

I have been with the Bank Of Montreal (ironically i live in Ontario) for a few years now ever since Royal Bank of Canada screwed me over then just deleted my bank account (no money lost, they ate my debt to them and just said w/e)

This bank has been awesome.. and i thought it couldn't get any better. A new branch opened up close to my dads house which is the branch i choose to do ALL my business through. I go to one banker and she is the most amazing person in the world. She got me a brand new chequing account JUST so i could get 3 free cheques that i needed for something. She has always gone above and beyond for me and my father.

beginning of August i decided that since i had 1 more year of college left i should just get the MAX amount of money my bank would give me i had only taken a minimum amount the first year. I figured i could use this money with its awesome interest rate to just get some stuff i needed and take advantage of the payment options. unlike a car loan or a general line of credit.

the negative of that which unaware to me and my banker at the application. They raised the interest from Prime+1% to Prime+2% now for those who have no idea what that means. The prime rate of interest is a dynamic number that can either go up or down. Usually its a fairly low number right now sitting at 2.250%

So when she printed the forums she saw this "error" and later found out it was a change in the student line of credit. it sucked but i needed the extra money so i took it. thinking oh well 1% extra sucks but what ever! she said there was nothing she could do and would just have to accept the interest! i was cool with that and resigned!

about a month and a half later i get a random phone call from my Father. my Banker had been in the last month working her way through different people and finally was able to give me back my old rate of interest. AWESOME!! saves me almost 15 bucks a month in interest payments!! i was very happy with this and did a little dance if i remember.

THEN... if it couldn't get BETTER!

I get a second phone call from my dad, he had got a phone call once again from our banker and she had refunded me the difference from my previous interest payment. (the one i had made at Prime+2%) so the bank GAVE ME BACK MONEY! not only did she get me my previous interest rate.. she got me money back that i had in her mind OVER PAID!

Banks are not evil if you have awesome people working at them. Bank of Montreal has won my business for sure. And when it comes time to get a home mortgage, i will be going through her beacuse i know she is out to make it work for ME!

Protip!! be nice to your banker at every chance you get!! there out to help you!! not to get you!!

PS! im still not feeling 100% i am still getting random abdominal cramps and some other stuff. If it does not clear up by monday i will go to the Doctor..
